Through a continued investigation of surface, Alison Frith explores the relationship between unconventional finishes and contained forms. Untitled showcases volatile crater glazes countered with smooth satin finishes, creating a dialogue between the controlled and organic. Subject to unpredictability in the firing, Frith’s volcanic glazes allude to a seemingly alive surface. Set in rigid, exacting steel, stoneware panels depict an idiosyncratic landscape of extremes, where Frith’s technical approach is both driven and balanced by these chance outcomes.
