In my work, I like to investigate materials which are not traditionally considered “jewellery materials”, and work them in a manner that makes them intriguing, not readily identifiable.
Paper is one of these materials, humble in appearance but full of significance, having been for two millennia the vehicle for the spread of knowledge. It is also very versatile, very varied and simultaneously fragile and resilient.
The weaving technique I used for this necklace is one I learnt from my grand-mother. It is a very lengthy but meditative process.
