Entry to the 2019 Victorian Craft Awards open today

Australia’s most prestigious award for contemporary craft opens for entries today.

Director of Craft Victoria, Bryony Nainby, said today, “The 2019 Victorian Craft Awards celebrate excellence in contemporary craft practice and present some of the most exciting artists working in Australia today.

We are calling on furniture makers, textile designers, ceramicists, jewellers and makers across all craft forms to enter this year’s awards.”

This biennial event celebrates the diversity of Victorian craft practice and highlights the cultural and personal value of handmade crafted objects.

Supported by generous sponsors and the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria, the Awards provide significant support to contemporary craft artists. The range of awards across different craft forms will be announced shortly.

Applications by established, mid-career and emerging artists utilising craft skills, processes and materials are encouraged from across Victoria.

Applications are open until Monday 15 July 2019.

Works by the finest contemporary makers in Victoria will be selected for exhibition, with this years’ finalists being announced on Friday 9 August 2019.
