Beginning as a collaboration between award winning Gunditjmara and Torres Strait Islander artist Lisa Waup and designer Ingrid Verner and curator and head of retail Sarah Weston, this collection was developed over four months in 2016 and 2017 and was first showcased as part of VAMFF and Global Indigenous Runway. Funded in part by Creative Victoria, all three worked around the clock to create the collection which features four original works by Waup — Homeward Boundaries, Land Mapping, Family Circles and Protection.  Drawing from a strong tradition of language and symbols with colours drawn in combination from Waup’s monochromatic line work and the reds and greens of the Australian landscape, the garments explore themes of connection, idnetity and country.

This collaboration is part of the ongoing Craft Aboriginal Commissioning Program and has been generously supported by Creative Victoria.
