The Abbotsford Convent is home to more than 150 artists, writers, thinkers, makers and creators of may kinds. From handcrafted jewellery and screen printed homewares, to ceramics, sustainable fashion and so much more, countless works of art are crafted at the Convent every day.
Come meet Convent creatives at their studios between 11am - 3pm and join a free Convent Made studio tour, learn a new skill or purchase a range of textiles, fashion, jewellery, ceramics and artist-made gifts.
Throughout the day, Convent creatives will host a range of free demonstrations and workshops including screen printing, pattern making, upcycling, block printing, papier-mâché and jewellery making.
Printing Demonstration: Ink & Spindle will offer a live demonstration of their hand-printing process. Inspired by Australian flora and fauna, Ink & Spindle are passionate about creating textiles that have a minimal impact on the earth.
Pattern Making Taster Class: Artist Leonie McGinley-Slater will invite visitors to register their interest and participate in a pattern making taster class.
Art of Up-cycling Workshop: Run by artists Nadin and Marta Kimberly, visitors will have the opportunity to convert old and discarded materials into something useful and beautiful.
Block Printing Workshop: Led by Print Safari, come learn a new skill and partake in the basics of block printing. Pottery Demonstration by Ghost Wares.
Papier- mâché demonstration: Come watch artist Leah Muddle apply papier-mâché and decoupage techniques in a contemporary setting.
Jewellery Making Demonstration: Contemporary jeweller and artist Katheryn Leopoldseder welcomes visitors into her studio to watch a making demonstration and appreciate the handmade jewellery available for purchase.
