Craft Cubed Festival 2018 | A month celebrating the handmade
Tuesday 9 July 2018
Now in its ninth year, this August Craft brings together hundreds of makers, thinkers and creatives for a month of exhibitions, workshops, talks, open studios, online projects and special events under the banner of the Craft Cubed Festival.
The festival - funded and supported by The City of Melbourne - is an opportunity for the community to connect with the breadth and depth of creative, experimental and ideas-based craft and design projects brought together by Craft Victoria and it's members.
This year's theme Homing Craft will aim to showcase and explore makers' sense of place, identity and home through this multi-layered, open access festival.
"We are proud to be presenting this year’s program, an open access community festival which celebrates contemporary excellence in the handmade." Craft's Acting CEO Jane Smith, AM.
Highlights of the festival, curated by Craft Victoria include:
- Our famous inner city Window Walk Project
- An in-house Artist in Residency at Craft's Watson Place home featuring three artists, Rute Chaves, Stephanie Hicks and Tai Snaith.
- Craft Hatch Market - our emerging makers market
- And, our annual day-long symposium Craft and Design as a Career featuring 12 speakers including international and interstate stars
Craft Cubed Festival Manager, Gemma Jones says "This is a genuinely uplifting and celebratory month of doing, learning, up-skilling and enjoying craft at its best and most sincere. Get into the program guide and make an itinerary across August."
