Michelle Cangiano lives and works in Melbourne where, along with her exhibiting art practice, she produces small runs of hand made contemporary jewellery and one off pieces for private commissions.
From amulets found world-wide and offering the wearer protection from evil, to the talismanic nature of gangster bling, Michelle’s work is inspired by the historical and present day ceremonies and rituals people imbue into jewellery and small-scale objects. Her approach to making encompasses a range of materials and techniques. Whether she is working with paper, found objects or precious metals and stones, Michelle embraces the meeting of the traditional and unconventional.
Michelle is co founder and director of Fivetwelve, an independent jewellery studio based in Melbourne and established in 2016.
