Blue Dog Glass will open up the studio facilities on Sunday 6 August, inviting the general public to come and make their own small artwork in glass. During a 20-minute sessions, you’ll be provided with all the materials and tools to create a screen printed coaster or mini-plate, or you can cut and shape a glass design for fusing – or learn how glass works are manipulated over a torch flame. Our staff and student artists will be on hand to offer help and guidance. The first session is free (and if you choose to make more, there’s just a small fee per extra session). Book your session by phoning 9580 7302 so you don’t miss out. Come and experience this intriguing form of craft making. There will be demonstrations through the day of various glass manipulation techniques, including flame working and pulling molten glass canes and stringers from a kiln. You can also see the inside workings of the studio - from the many kilns to the various grinding, polishing and finishing equipment. And while you’re here, why not spend some time viewing our exhibition of student artist works in ‘The Art of Glass’ – art to encourage and inspire our visitors to start creating for themselves!
