Under the guidance of an experienced tutor participants will be taken through the basics of wheel throwing on a revolving pottery wheel - how to centre clay and the steps involved to throw small forms. Students will choose one of the works created during the session to have glazed and fired.
This workshop offers participants the chance to try out the age-old-technique of forming pots, either as a one-off activity or to see if it is something they would like to pursue further. Buff stoneware clay is used in this workshop, there will be a maximum of 10 participants.
This workshop includes all materials, and the glazing and firing of one work created. This includes two firings (bisque and glaze) and glazing (as a group, students can choose two stoneware glazes) by our technician. Our turnaround time for work to be ready for collection is 2-3 weeks. NPS staff will email students when work is ready for collection.
IMPORTANT: Please bring along your own towel and apron to the workshop, wheel throwing can be messy! These workshops are aimed at adults, the minimum age is 15 years old.
