Aesop Flinders Lane and Craft Present — Things to Play by Anna Varendorff
Working with brass and silver solder, Anna Varendorff has made a collection of her Objects of Free Use to sit in the window of Aesop Flinders Lane. These sculptures are formed from a language of shapes Varendorff has been developing for a decade, that balance, intertwine and support each other.
Anna Varendorff works with sculpture and installation. She makes reference to the scales, details and uses of the space within her installations in order for the audience to find opportunities to interact with the work or to share in perceptual encounters. She extrapolates sculpturally upon her practice as an artist jeweller, working with brass, wood, light, sound, glass and shadow.
Anna Varendorff has completed an MFA at Monash University, and has exhibited at ACCA as part of NEW16, at TCB, Bus Projects, Craft Victoria, c3 Contemporary Art Space, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Anna Pappas Gallery and others.
