The National Wool Museum’s Quilt Workshop Series kicks off with this ‘taster’ event on Sunday 25 August 2019.
This is the first in a series held at the National Wool Museum as part of the Museum’s Art Quilt Australia 2019 exhibition – a showcase of Art Quilts from Australia and New Zealand, running from 6 September – 15 December 2019.
More information on the workshop can be found at nwm.vic.gov.au. Bookings can be made through Eventbrite.
Art Quilt Australia is a biennial juried exhibition/competition open to textile artists resident in Australia and New Zealand and Oz Quilt Network members worldwide.
Art Quilts experiment with textile manipulation, colour, texture and/or a diversity of mixed media, often pushing quilt world boundaries... Art Quilts explore a concept or idea rather than the handing down of a pattern.
The competition seeks to promote excellence and innovation in contemporary art quilts in Australia, with over $6000 in prizes - including:
• $3000 for Expressions: The Wool Quilt Prize, for a wool quilt. The winner of the Expressions prize is also acquired by the National Wool Museum for its permanent collection.
• $3000 for the non-acquisitive OZQN Award of Excellence, which is open to all quilts.
• $500 awards for Highly Commended in both categories.
