This exhibition is at The Wandering Room's new gallery space in Brunswick. The Wandering Room is an artist run initiative that has been in existence since 2007. This artist run initiative is known for its inclusive and original programming and for occupying unusual spaces.
This exhibition comes toward the end of Angela Rossitto's PhD in the School of Art at RMIT during which she has been investigating cosmological deep time. Cosmological deep time encapsulates all known time and space since the inception of the universe. Deep time stimulates the imagination, is at odds with the pace of modern life and as a concept urges deep personal and critical collective ecological reflection.
Throughout her research Angela has been giving form to this focus through utilising fibre and light. This collection of installation artworks includes works created will in residence in Japan and Germany on both micro and macro scales. These intricate and laborious hand-crafted works employ techniques including sewing, crochet and weaving and incorporate materials including thread, wire, rope and wearable electronics.
