In conversation with Lisa Roet - Presented by Pieces of Eight Gallery

  • Pieces of Eight Gallery 28 Russell Place Melbourne Australia (map)

“Transpiration” is a range of jewellery and functional objects reflecting the fragile eco system of Borneo , one of the worlds greatest rainforest systems and home to the Orangutan. UNESCO has just called for the preservation of Great apes, seeing them as the Umbrella species for the global rainforest systems. Deforestation recognised as one of Global Warming’s greatest threats. Addressing her ongoing theme in art and jewellery, Roet’s work utilises orangutan palm prints, skin texture and reflections of landscape to create her own eco system titled “Transpiration” being the scientific term for the release of water from rainforest plants into the environment. Roet will be 'in conversation' with Alice Blackwood to discuss the issues she tackles within her work.
