Craft Victoria and Tom Thumb are pleased to present Asobimasu Collective by Kate Brouwer.
Kate Brouwer is the florist, ceramicist and creative hands behind Asobimasu Collective. Inspired by the traditional art of Ikebana, Kate creates shapes informed by her love of flowers and the harmony of nature. Using ceramics as a foundation for discovery Kate enjoys creating pieces that bend the boundaries of traditional vases and exploring their relationship with flowers and natural objects.
'At the back of my overgrown rose garden its roots one hundred years deep, sits an old white cottage. This is my studio, home to my creative dreams. Peering through white window panes, light seeps in and warms its mud splattered walls. I take a sip of a hot cup of tea.
Standing in this tidy peach kitchen that was once home to another, is now home to me, my pottery and flowers.
Surrounded by so much history and beauty I find comfort in creating in this old and tired house. Breathing new life into its walls and windows, filling its shelves with shapes and shadows.'
