Window Walk | Narelle White X The Capsule
‘Fecund little feet’ dance in the mirrored Capsule Space, down in The Campbell Arcade.
“My concept entails the presentation of works from my Porous Vessels series. With bulbous bodies and fecund little feet, these animated forms can appear like geological matter sprung to life. Created with an experimental blend of Australian porcelain, combustible organic aggregates and Victorian beach sands, their material profiles are distinctively raw and delicate; imbued with the peculiar mineral properties of their origins. With porous walls they query the time-honoured notion of containment – so often embodied in ceramic vessels – to instead suggest a breathable membrane. Presenting these spirited forms en masse, I wish to imply a field of material relationships that is alive and shifting.”
Narelle is an early-career Australian artist with a passion for the messy unpredictability of experimental ceramic process.
She approaches ceramic enquiry as a field of experimentation and engages her materials as wilful co-conspirators.
This contemporary craft installation is hosted by Creative Spaces at Capsule exhibition space:
Capsule is a single, mirror-backed display case and adjacent signboard located in the Campbell Arcade.
