Craft Victoria appoints new Executive Director
The Board of Craft Victoria, Australia’s leading organisation representing craft and design practitioners, is pleased to announce the appointment of Bryony Nainby as its new Executive Director. Bryony will join Craft Victoria on full time basis from 13 June 2019.
Bryony is currently the Director of Benalla Art Gallery, one of Australia’s leading regional galleries.
Chair of Craft Victoria, Katrina Raymond, said the Board was delighted to have a person of Bryony’s experience and skills to lead the organisation as it approaches its 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2020.
“Bryony has worked across the visual arts and cultural sector for the past twenty years and has the skills, experience and knowledge to lead Craft into its 50th year and beyond as a leading Australian arts organisation, known for curatorial excellence.
“Bryony’s longstanding interest in Craft and her passion for the skill, integrity and values represented by craft practitioners will be highly valued in enabling the Craft sector to flourish under her guidance,” Ms Raymond said.
Bryony has previously held senior roles with the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG), the Latrobe and Gippsland public art galleries and other state cultural institutions.
She has served on the Board of the Public Galleries Association of Victoria (PGAV), and is currently a member the Ministerial appointed Board of the Victorian Foundation for Living Australian Artists (VFLAA).
Ms Nainby said she was excited to be leading Craft Victoria into its 50th year and beyond.
“Craft Victoria plays a national role in promoting the importance of craft practice.
“I’ll be actively ensuring a high level of support for members at all stages of their careers, and championing the organisational focus on experimentation, risk-taking and conceptual aesthetic exploration,” Ms Nainby. said.
