Craft Cubed Presents: Belinda Marshall | SKETCH, PAINT, STITCH! WITH BELINDA MARSHALL
Join Belinda Marshall in a new workshop especially created for this year’s Craft Cubed festival. Explore your creativity with pencil, paint and stitching and create your own embroidery artwork in a 2-part workshop.
What’s the significance of the handmade to you?
Handmade has so much more meaning and value to me. I know the feeling of satisfaction that comes with making by hand so there's already an underlying connection with the work of other makers that is there before the infatuation and love for the work grows.
What is your earliest craft memory?
Learning to crochet squares with my Nanna - so addictive!
Where do you go in Melbourne for inspiration?
I love visiting the Botanic Gardens and also love to get out of Melbourne, especially to the coast for inspiration.
What are you reading OR listening to at the moment?
Reading: My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh
How would you describe your studio or making environment?
It's usually pretty messy, though sometimes tidy. I work on a few things at once so I like to have everything out so I can see how things are progressing. I have a growing collection of old paint palettes that I can't part with and lots of threads.
How does “good” craft make you feel?
Good craft is like good meditation or a good chat with a close friend - good for the soul.
What other Craft Cubed events are you excited about?
I'm looking forward to seeing these 3 the most though there are so many inspiring events and workshops. INTER:SECTION - RACHEL HINE, HILARY GREEN & RACHEL WOOD
